Before we get into the tips on how to find the right shade of foundation, let’s start with our HOMECOMING FOUNDATION.

If you are new to Nabira cosmetics we recently launched our first foundation which is called HOMECOMING. It has 10 different shades (BUJUMBURA, GITEGA, MWARU, MAKAMBA, RUYIGI, NGOZI, RUTANA, KIRUNDO, KAYANZA, and BURURI) that include all skin type and complexions.

Homecoming matte long-wear foundation grants long-wear, lightweight, and beautifully luminous coverage. Brilliantly breathable, flawless complexion, which stays on for up to 24 hours.  full coverage with a flawless, even finish, without a mask-like effect. The foundation formula is transfer-resistant, with no compromise on comfort and no need to touch up. Homecoming gives a poreless matte finish and has your face looking positively filtered.

The best part is that it doesn’t sit on top of your skin and look like makeup, One layer smoothed and blended out looks pretty invisible.

Now that we know about our HOMECOMING let’s get into the tips that can help you choose the right shade of foundation.

1. Know your skin type / tone and undertones

This is the first and vital thing you need to know before buying any beauty product, it is not just for the FOUNDATION but ANY beauty product.

They are 5 types of skin: normal, oily, dry, combined, sensitive skin.

People with normal skin have a balanced skin, their skin is neither too oily nor too dry. The oily skin type is characterized by a glossy shine skin with visible pores due to the high production of the sebum, people with this type of skin are highly prone to blackheads, whiteheads or any other form of acne.

The dry skin produce low sebum than the normal and oily skin, people with this type of skin have a skin that had a dull, tight and rough skin appearance.

The combined skin is characterized by a mixture of oily and dry skin where you find that the T ZONE area (forehead, nose, and chin) is oily and the rest of the face is dry.

Sensitive skin is the type of skin that is hypersensitive either when you eat something or use a certain product. You also need to know about your skin tone and undertone which play a major role in finding the perfect shade of foundation.

A skin tone is the surface skin color and the undertone is the subtle color beneath that skin tone. We have the 3 types of undertone (warm, cool and neutral undertone). You can determine your undertone by looking at the vessels beneath your skin.

If they are greenish you have a warm undertone, if they look blue you have a cool undertone and for the neutral undertone you will see a combination of both.

When you get your undertone wrong this may affect your overall look.

How does this information help?

Many beauty brands make products according to the different type of skin that is why it is very crucial to know your skin type and to check the product before buying it.

For example you will find some foundation with a note like “FOR OILY SKIN” on the bottle or the packaging so if you have an oily skin know that the foundation is perfect for you.
This also apply to the undertone and different type of tones, many brands put this type of information on their products labels make sure you read the label or the description part when you are buying online.

If you want a more detailed blog about skin types, tones and undertones let us know in the comment section and we will be happy to deliver. 3. Read the Label

As we have seen in this first tip it is very important to read the product label before buying it because it contains all the vital information you need to know before buying your product.

Our packaging contains all the crucial information about our foundation including also the SPF which is also very important when buying a foundation so make sure you read before you buy.
